Anthony Mundine's plans to head to the US are in disarray after 'The Man' suffered a shock fifth round knockout at the hands of Garth Wood in their middleweight bout in Sydney on Wednesday night.

Mundine had planned to use the fight - Wood's reward for winning The Contender television series - as his final stepping stone before heading overseas, but admitted everything was now up in the air after Wood left him sprawling on the canvas 58 seconds into the fifth round.

After what had been a scrappy opening four rounds dominated by grappling and warnings from the referee, Wood - in just his 12th professional fight - landed a vicious left hook on Mundine's chin to send the two-time world champion to an early demise.

I missed seeing the fight live but was totally stoked this morning to hear the news that Mundine got "Knocked the fuck out!"
Anthony Mundine is an embarassment to Australia and Australian Boxing.

I watched the full fight on Youtube last night...and as much as I hate Anthony (The black dog) Mundine, That fight was bullshit.
The ring ropes were so loose that the fighters could have fallen out of the ring...Wood's style seemed very awkward and amaturish....Mundine looked rattled before the bell even went for the first round...and he looked like he was gunna spew in the bucket on the stool after the first round...I'm suprised he hasnt been mouthing off and making a heap of excuses and demanding a rematch already??
Mundine's style was weird from round one..and nothing like the hungry fighter that beat Danny Green a few years ago...
Sadly I would have to agree that the fight was a scam and Mundine threw it....Him and Woods seemed just way to friendly for my liking.
