http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0rsGw21rcEIt’s hard to believe but even the likes of Lewis Hamilton have now experienced the draconian traffic laws in Australia. The former Formula One world champion was tonight caught and charged with hooning in his Mercedes-Benz as he left Albert Park.
Reports say the talented driver, arguably one of the best drivers in the world, has been arrested for unnecessarily ’spinning the wheels’ and performing a fishtail in his company provided Mercedes. Unfortunately for Hamilton, there happened to be a Victoria Police car in sight which consequently pulled him over.
If being charged with improper use of a vehicle wasn’t bad enough, the McLaren ace has also lost his company car for 48 hours (not that it would worry him), were it has been confiscated by police under the Victorian anti-hoon laws.
Witnesses at the scene say Hamilton was trying to hide his face from bystanders. No doubt Victoria Police will make a big deal out of the event, emphasising that even Lewis Hamilton will not get away with ‘hooning’.
Formula One drivers have a rich history of being caught in traffic offences, Hamilton was famously caught speeding at nearly 200km/h in France three years ago which also resulted in his car being impounded by police.
