Hey guys i need some expert advice as three useless fucking mechanics cant work out whats wrong with my brm brm Sad

Its a 5ltr VN auto and it stalls sometimes when i come to a stop unless i keep my foot on the accelerator. And recently the damn thing started to stall while I was driving, just died in the ass....

no mechanics can work out whats wrong with it, Ive had the fuel lines done and stuff, they said if it was a V6 they could tell me what the problem was easy, but not with an 8???

If anyone could give me some advice, has anyone else had a similar problem, its driving me nuts and Im going to have to try flog my car off cheap if i cant fix it...

i had a 92 fairlane V8 a few years back that would occasionally stall at the lights and stuff.  Basically, it wasn't keeping enough revs up and she'd stop.  I learnt to drive the auto two footed, and when at the lights to keep me leftie on the brake and the rightie partly on the throttle.  Left foot braking is scary if you've never done it before - you either apply too much pressure or too little until you figure out what's going on - you end up looking like a learner driver for a while!

As for what was causing it?  Fucked if I know.  I wasn't going to spend any money on the piece of shit.  Can't help yer, but I know exactly what yer going through!!

does it ever idle high? or is it just the stalling. air flow meter?? or a mate had a VR the gearbox was the problem something with the torque converter or stater bush??

Could be a leaky vacuum line.

Another thing is the quality of fuel at times is really fucked and you can get the computer to reset itself back to factory by disconnecting the battery for a day or two. This will get the thing back to it's preset idling and fuel mixture.

could be the fuel pump...I had a VP 5L and it did the same thing, turned out to be the fuel pump...  but depends love... coz mine cluttered to a stall at the lights.... does yours do the same?

Bump the base idle up a bit, change in line fuel filter if it has one also rip the fuel pump out of the tank and clean the filter on the fuel pump. Other than that just have a good look around the engine bay for any little hoses that are dissconnected. But hey I'm a ford man and know fuck all about holdens but that's what I would check. Also maybe injectors are clogged so get them serviced.

I've worked plenty of this farkin things in the past. 9 times out of 10 it's the good fa nuttin fuel pump, which is actually mount'd inside tha friggin tank.

So, tell ya mechanic to pull tha tank out & throw the fuel pump away. Fit a new pump & away ya go.

Farkin Holdens!!  I love em, bit geez the carnts are a pain in the ass to fix all the time. Still beta then a Ford but.

hey thanks everyone for your replies, finally got her back, the shitty mechanics finally worked out  what was wrong with her... something with the throttle body...

its all swoit now though, but ya gotta wonder about mechanics these days, cant tell ya whats wrong with your car without a fucking computer print out...

so anyways, under fucking suspension again... for awhile this time, so shes for sale now... go have a squizzy in the for sale section...
