For me it was Series Production which was run right up to the end of 1972.

You could basically walk into a dealer and buy a car that was raced at the Mountain each year. Well sort of. All of the factory teams all fucking cheated.
Thanks to this we got enjoy Falcon GTHO's , E38/E49's , Monaros and XU1's
Rules were you had to build a minimum of 300 cars to be eligible.
Group C came about after the Supercar scare in 72.
This was when they were permitted to modify the cars from standard.
It stopped the hotrods like the Phase 3 and the BigTank E49 but there were still plenty of backdoor deals done where manufacturers would build cars with good engine internals and better gear boxes, diffs etc.
L34/ A9X Torana was one as was the RPO83 XA Falcon.

Group C was great racing and the sound was awesome.
Only problem it became a homologation nightmare to keep the competition even at the end.
Thats why i perfered Series Production.

V8's are fucking shit compared these old bangers

Its like drag racing! Everything id chev , holden , ford this and that, but most Top fuelers run aftermarket Keith Black Chrysler big blocks!!

Th touring car engines are NOTHING to do with street engines!!

Dead right there.
The Chev in the Commy is what they call an Aurora. It's a sprint car engine and to make it fit in the Commy they had to make special castings that had engines mounts in them.
The Ford engine is a Ford Motorsport block with what they call a D4 head.
At least you can bolt this into anything that has a Ford V8 in it.

They both use a crown and pionion year end ( 9" inch Ford diff)
with 4 link rear end and a Watts link

They both have a double wishbone set up for the front suspension which is the same as the Falcon road car. Commy road car use's struts

They use a 6 speed Holinger crash box and about the only thing they share with the road car is the rear quarters, boot lid, bonnet, roof turret and 4 doors. If it's a Ford they also use the floor pan.
The Commy has to be cut and shut to make it fit the Blueprint rules

Back in the day the cars were Holden and Ford, they had real donks with carby's and blokes drivin em with only a pissant fuckin seatbelt, now we have 2 near-identical cars with electronic whizz bang doolackies, huge fuckoff stickers and poofters like the she-man rick kelly driving the fuckers
