It's simple mate, so old Fosters or CUB or whatever farkin company own em can make more profits!....
So they can make more Vic!!!

It's only 0.1% lower, so who gives a flying fark anyway, long as it still tastes the same.

STICK TO THE VIC!!!!!!!!!!

In addition to what Bloomy said.... CUB have to pay tax on alcohol content per unit.  In fact any producer of alcoholic beverages has to.

By dropping it a miniscule 0.1% to 4.8%, they will save approximately $10M to $20M in tax per year!!!!!  They are only doing this to save money, which in turn means better returns for shareholders.  Don't for one minute believe their bullshit about it being to make it in accordance with all other beers, and so that drinkers can safely calculate their BAC and so on....

What a sell out mob of carnts CUB are. Make money for the share holders??? So when they transport the hole farkin kit and kaboodle off to farkin India or somewere other than Oz to produce it, that will be OK to as long as it makes some carnts some more dosh.

Emu Export is still %5 in the can and still only costs $30 a block(30cans). Sure the Kiwi's own the carnt nowdays, but I don't see them puttin money before thier drinkers. Mind you the only carnts that drink export are blackfellas.

http://www.ausfoodnews.com.au/2009/07/01/fosters-to-cut-alcohol-content-of-vb.html

Quote
Foster’s to cut alcohol content of VB

Foster’s is set to cut the alcohol content of Australia’s highest selling beer in a bid to avoid a price hike next month.

The brewer, which is embarking on a marketing push in the coming months to strengthen VB’s grip on top spot in the market, is reportedly going to reduce the alcohol content from 4.8 per cent to 4.6 per cent at the start of August.

Cherist, the wowsers keep this up and in a few years time there won't be any alcohol left in it!  Shocked

Did a brewery tour in the Hunter Valley recently...

The bloke at Potter's microbrewery told us that the reduction in Alcohol would have lowered their production cost slightly (less Sugar) and sped up the brewing time by a few days...So just more beer out of the same vats for less $$$.

This is what happens when you let accountants run a brewery instead of listening to your customers and doing it for the love of beer!

At least Tooheys went the other way with thier "Extra-Dry Platnium"....Thats not a bad drop at all!...6.5%!
